The Evangelism Unit of the Evangelical Christian Union (ECU) is made of seven of the over sixteen subgroups of the ECU Fellowship. Evangelical Christian Union is a Christian fellowship that began in the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1963 with a desire to create an avenue for Christian students of the university to have a place of fellowship and a forum to give expression to the Spirit of God within them. Evangelism, for us as Christians, is a priority. So we take out time to minister to those who have not experienced the joy of salvation, after ministering to our Lord, Jesus Christ, in worship and to ourselves in service. This is why over the decades ECU has been known for its solid Word base (receiving not only the recommendation of men (both Christians and non-Christians) but more importantly of God, by his continual Presence in the fellowship; ECU also is known for its evangelistic efforts. ECU’s evangelistic efforts, as a fellowship is obvious through its many outreaches and the crusades it has organized over the years. Four decades have gone by and by His infinite grace, the fire and passion to see the unsaved soul bows his knees to his Savior has not waned. To do this and other things needed to the edification of the believer effectively the ECU is broken into subgroups. The e-groups, the seven subgroups that make up the Evangelism Unit, are so oragnised to allow for specialization in ministry and to prevent the neglect of one mission field at the expense of another. The seven subgroups are: Child Evangelism, City Evangelism, Campus Evangelism, Mission Subgroup, Village Evangelism, School Visit Subgroup, and Hospital Visit Subgroup.

Over the years the years the Lord has enabled us to achieve several things ranging from destroying the powers of devil in several cities town and villages; not forgetting our own locality- the campus, to start various waves of Revival that has swept the Land. By his grace, the ECU and its E-unit has pumped out a lot of fire Brand ministers of this day.
Some other things achieved would include:

  1. Setting up of over ten churches in the various communities around the campus which is still being pastored by students through the Village Evangelism Subgroup.

  2. Over 15 Children Outreach Centers in the campus and the town through the Child Evangelism Subgroup.

  3. Outreach to over 50 secondary schools in three communities: Ile-Ife, Modakeke and Origbo (a community of 6 towns), through the School Visit Family.

  4. Recently, through the Missions Subgroup, we have been to Koma Hills in Adamawa state, and Benin Republic in collaboration with Harvest Family Ministry.

  5. The City Evangelism would not cease with crusades. Recent ones were are held Erin-Ijesa, Ayentanle with youth Revival Campaigns at Ikire.

  6. The School Visit Subgroup has visited several schools outside the focus areas (ife, Origbo and Modakeke); and these include Federal Government Colleges in Oyo and Odoogbolu. A present ongoing project of the school visit Family (in collaboration with the Kingsword Fellowship) is the Rhoda Project.

  7. The Village Evangelism will not by God’s grace leave its evangelistic campaigns which recently took it to Arowoogun and some other places.
